God’s judgement filled the earth (Gen 6). The Rainbow represents the eternal covenant God made through the work of his Messiah. The rain/flood is Gods spirit filling the earth, abolishing of the flesh.
Noah in Hebrew means ‘Rest’, associated with the Sabbath rest. Rest from the works of the law. This is the New Covenant of Faith that comes from the work of the Messiah.
The Hebrew word for Rainbow in the bible is Qesheth, which is defined as ‘Bow’, as in an Archers bow for shooting, which represents strength. The Bow can be seen as the strength of God through the work of the Messiah.
Rev 6:2 And I looked, and behold, a white horse. He who sat on it had a bow;
and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer. NKJV
The ‘Bow’ is set in the Cloud (of witnesses).
The cloud represents something concealed. God spoke from the cloud to conceal his identity.
Ex 16:10 Now it came to pass, as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud. NKJV
Luke 21:27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. NKJV
Ezek 1:26 Above the expanse over their heads was what looked like a throne of sapphire, and high above on the throne was a figure like that of a man. 27 I saw that from what appeared to be his waist up he looked like glowing metal, as if full of fire, and that from there down he looked like fire; and brilliant light surrounded him. 28 Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him. NKJV
Rev 14:14 Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and on the cloud sat One like the Son of Man,
having on His head a golden crown, and in His hand a sharp sickle. NKJV
The New Testament refers to the ‘cloud’ of witnesses. All who took part in establishing the Kingdom of God. People who were a shadow of what was to come. All of Gods servants are part of the cloud he Rules over.
Heb 12:1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, NKJV
Heb 11:4 By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain,
5 By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death,
6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is,
and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
7 By faith Noah, ….prepared an ark for the saving of his household,
8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called
11 By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age,
13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. NKJV
