Menorah

The Menorah - The light of the world.

The Shadow: The Menorah; the lampstand giving light to the Temple.

Ex 25:31 "Make a lampstand of pure gold and hammer it out, base and shaft; its flowerlike cups, buds and blossoms shall be of one piece with it. 32 Six branches are to extend from the sides of the lampstand — three on one side and three on the other. 33 Three cups shaped like almond flowers with buds and blossoms are to be on one branch, three on the next branch, and the same for all six branches extending from the lampstand.

34 And on the lampstand there are to be four cups shaped like almond flowers with buds and blossoms. 35 One bud shall be under the first pair of branches extending from the lampstand, a second bud under the second pair, and a third bud under the third pair — six branches in all. 36 The buds and branches shall all be of one piece with the lampstand, hammered out of pure gold.

37 "Then make its seven lamps and set them up on it so that they light the space in front of it. 38 Its wick trimmers and trays are to be of pure gold. 39 A talent of pure gold is to be used for the lampstand and all these accessories. 40 See that you make them according to the pattern shown you on the mountain. NIV

The Fulfillment; the Messiah, the light of the world.

Rev 21:22 I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. NIV

The Candlestick is commonly referred to by its Hebrew name, the Menorah. The Menorah is another representation of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Jesus is the lampstand, the Oil is the Holy Spirit, and the Father is the source of all things. The Oil, (the Spirit) flowing through the branches to give light (Word of God) to the Nations.

Another term for the Menorah is as a ‘yoke.’ A Yoke bonds the teacher and the student, Ox or man. In nature, the Yoke is a tool to harness a young inexperienced Ox to an older, more experienced Ox to learn from him. As with nature goes the spiritual. Jesus uses the term for a student to learn from the teacher by being yoked together.

Made of Pure Gold means it was undefiled and Holy to the Lord. Hammered means to be formed, as a potter who forms the clay. The Flowers, buds and blossoms made as one piece: The beginning of the New Covenant giving new life in Christ, the work of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Rev 3:11 I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown. 12 Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on him my new name. 13 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. Jer 1:11The word of the Lord came to me: "What do you see, Jeremiah?"

"I see the branch of an almond tree," I replied.

12 The Lord said to me, "You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled."

13 The word of the Lord came to me again: "What do you see?"

"I see a boiling pot, tilting away from the north," I answered.

14 The Lord said to me, "From the north disaster will be poured out on all who live in the land.

5 I am about to summon all the peoples of the northern kingdoms," declares the Lord. NIV

Matt 24:36 "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.

42 "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. NIV

The Seven Lamps

Rev 1:20 The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and of the seven golden lampstands is this:

The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches. NIV

Rev 4:5 From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. Before the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God. 6 Also before the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal. NIV

The placement of the Menorah is significant. The Temple faces East toward the rising sun. The Ark represents the Mercy seat of God. Just as the Son sits at the right hand of God, the Menorah is placed to the South, the right-hand side of the Ark.

Ex 26:35 Place the table outside the curtain on the north side of the tabernacle

and put the lampstand opposite it on the south side. NIV

OT:3769 karar (kaw-rar'); a primitive root; to dance (i.e. whirl): -dance (-ing).

Zerubbabel represents the people coming out of bondage to rebuild the second temple.

OT:2216 Zerubbabel (zer-oob-baw-bel'); from OT:2215 and OT:894; descended of (i.e. from) Babylon, i.e. born there; Zerubbabel, an Israelite:

Zech 4:1 Then the angel who talked with me returned and wakened me, as a man is wakened from his sleep. 2 He asked me, "What do you see?"

I answered, "I see a solid gold lampstand with a bowl at the top and seven lights on it, with seven channels to the lights. 3 Also there are two olive trees by it, one on the right of the bowl and the other on its left."

4 I asked the angel who talked with me, "What are these, my lord?"

5 He answered, "Do you not know what these are?"

"No, my lord," I replied.

6 So he said to me, "This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the Lord Almighty. NIV

Zech 4:11 Then I asked the angel, "What are these two olive trees on the right and the left of the lampstand?"

12 Again I asked him, "What are these two olive branches beside the two gold pipes that pour out golden oil?"

13 He replied, "Do you not know what these are?"

"No, my lord," I said.

14 So he said, "These are the two who are anointed to serve the Lord of all the earth." NIV

It’s those with Gods seed, the Holy Spirit who are descended from Abraham.

Rom 9:6 For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. 7 Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham's children. On the contrary, "It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned." 8 In other words, it is not the natural children who are God's children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham's offspring. 9 For this was how the promise was stated: "At the appointed time I will return, and Sarah will have a son." NIV

Matt 11:28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." NIV

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. NIV

John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." NIV

1 Cor 10:16 Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? …21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; NIV

Ex 13:20 After leaving Succoth they camped at Etham on the edge of the desert. 21 By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night. 22 Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people.
